To inspire our children with this half term's topic, Pirates and Explorers, the Year 1 and Year 2 children went to the Portsmouth Dockyard to visit HMS Victory. They learnt all about Lord Nelson and saw the plaque on the ship's dock where he fell in 1805. The children had a wonderful time looking around the ship. They found all of the artifacts very interesting but could not imagine being at sea in a wooden ship especially in rough weather! The children also had a pirate and parrot workshop where they enjoyed activities such as dressing up as pirates, looking for treasure in the sand and finding skull and crossbones flags in the museum using a treasure map. Everyone returned to school excited but exhausted!
