Dogs on School Premises

The Governors considered the above issue at the request of some of our parents.

In the past the Governors had decided that dogs on leads might be brought to the main entrance providing they were kept closely under control.

However, now that parents wait for their children outside the classroom doors, some parents have expressed concern about the health and safety issues posed by a number of dogs being in the playground area.

The Governors discussed the matter and decided that dogs must not now be brought on to the school premises at any time. Apart from Guide dogs, no dogs should be brought past the main school gate, whether on a lead or not.

This decision has been taken in the interests of the children’s health and safety, and we hope that our dog-owning families will understand the reasons for it being necessary.
